I can't tolerate bias towards minority workers. I think we have the responsibility to give them a chance. In the long run, it will also benefit us.

The contractor, based on LZ's description, is more than honest. Paining the ceiling is different from restoring the ceiling to its original condition.

The contract was honest in agreeing not to be paid. So, the deal is closed and is fair to everyone.

However, LZ used this instance to defame the contractor of bad behavior, lying etc.

This is why LZ is disgusting and despicable.

楼主没有付那剩下的100是因为这个人该干的活没有干完。我不明白这有什么不对的。雇contractor干活，不都是先付多少，剩下的是所有的活干完才付吗？如果他活没干完，我为什么要全付啊？

楼主的心情是能理解的，钱花了，活做的不漂亮，心里不爽，然后现在感觉不是钱的问题了，而是觉得气不过这效果。

可是从另一个角度来说，你找这个师傅，其实还是图个钱便宜，说句难听的，大部分时间，便宜真的没好货，既然图便宜了，就要有冒险精神。所以效果不好，也别气了。

要是真不在乎钱，下次就找个专业的，价格贵但是省心对吧。要是真是在乎钱，那么这次这个其实真不算贵的，这里呆长的都知道，唉，这里就是人工贵啊，谁家不是这样，坏点东西都指望自己能修，要不能修，那就等着掏钱吧。

其实我觉得这个事情是有代表性的，很多时候可能是语言沟通图个方便，又或者是中国人自己做点生意的的确比老外便宜点，所以很多中国人还是喜欢找中国人，但是说实话，有些中国师傅的水平也的确不敢恭维。（左右看看，希望我没打击到谁吧，(*^__^*) 嘻嘻……）

反正我个人觉得，心情能理解，但是最终一分价钱一分货，认了吧，以后就是给他传传口碑就行了

冒着被歪脖骂的风险，讲一个自己的亲身经历。

几年前，不知道为什么，我的厨房洗池的热水很小。我找来正规公司的西人管工。说好评估免费。一个白人按约定时间来了。查了１０几２０分钟，没有发现原因，但是他估计是紧挨龙头的接头坏了，换了就好了，算一个小时工，$95 + 材料＋tax。我问他这样修，修好的可能性是多少。他说90%以上。那我说，你干吧。新的接头接上去了，问题没解决。他说那只能往前推，换前面一个接头。但是前面的接头在墙里面，工程大了，估计$500。那我就说，我不要你干了。他收拾工具后开出发票，我说你没修好我不付钱。他说，你有理由不付钱，但是他必须开发票。他把发票留在我的桌上后，他走了。

２个礼拜后，那个公司打电话给我，催我付钱。我说问题没解决，我一分钱都不付。后来再也没打电话来。

This is pretty fair. Did you go to a blog and say the contractor wasn't good ? You obviously didn't.

Same for the Chinese contractor. He didn't insist on the pay for the painting.

However, LZ came here to belittle the contractor. Isn't that disgusting ?

The Chinese contractor did fix LZ's leaking problem. It is the painting that is the issue.

Sigh ... Hope LZ's moral can be heightened through this posting experience and no longer be such a mean person.

As a general rule, be nice to Chinese workers. Even if it means you suffer some minor loss. It is not easy for Chinese workers due to limited market size.

第三，或者延续着国内的思维压价；而工人呢按照这里的思维尽量低价。

LZ said he doesn't care about paying that $100. What he wanted is to finish painting the ceiling like it was before. Why do you think it is fair for him that the contractor didn't do it right？ LZ wasted his time and energy too only to get this unfinished ugly ceiling？ I don't think it is fair for LZ. I think it is very fair to complain about this contractor, and this contractor happens to be a Chinese.

The contractor lied about that he will painting the ceiling. I think he probably implied that he will paint the ceiling like what it looks like before. If he told LZ what he will do, I don't think LZ would agree in the first place.

Repeat my question: How many Chinese people can immigrate to Canada because they have handy man training/diploma back in China?
It is a simple question, should not be any understanding issue.
