All students must obtain a bachelor’s degree prior to receiving certification as a CGA. The degree may be from any approved post-secondary degree-granting institution and in any field. Non-Canadian degrees must be deemed equivalent to a Canadian degree to be acceptable. Before qualifying for certification as a CGA, candidates must demonstrate that accumulated work experience has progressed to positions that require a high degree of knowledge and responsibility. Students must complete a minimum of 24 months of professional experience for certification.
