If we are into a discussion, I would like to focus on the topic instead of criticize other people or their work. I have already asked the owner with Passat to come to our shop for diag just for your interest. As for duplicate customer problem, I would like to point an example that happened...

There is no such thing as check engine light on with no Dtc(s)!

Just because of a customer has a request means we should accept customer's request. We will accept customer's request if it's reasonable. eg, customer request us to do illegal ..... In this case, if the shop pass the e-test, they could loose their license if taken to court. If it's your shop...

In other words, it could be a leak or something else. We are just guessing here. Without proper diag, there is no way to tell which is why Ontario has regulations for not passing e-test with check engine light on. Long story short, as a professional shop, we can't pass e-test with check...

Usually, I don't like to tell people where I work due to the fact that I don't like to do advisement for my company during personal hours. If there is nothing wrong with your vehicle, the light will not be on. If there is something wrong with with your vehicle, the light maybe on or not.
