新车保修延期？

Thanks, everyone. Confirmed with VW that the extended warranty can be purchased any time before original warranty expires. So will wait.

If your VW car is manufactured in MEXICO, I recommend you buy extended warranty. Of course, you have to know WHAT is covered, and what is NOT. Sometimes, it only covers PARTS, but NOT labour, if that is the case, HOW much is the labour (usually plus tax close to 100CAD per hour). And to fix VW cars, mechanic may need special tools (like my caucasian co-worker who is a handy man cannot change his beetle front light buld, cost him close to 50 to change at dealer).

大家看是否值得？这3年倒是没有修什么，就怕以后需要大修。

Go to Chapters, have a look at this year April Edition Consumers Reports (my family has received that subscription copy) and have a look at RELIABILITY report of your car. My Caucasian co-worker beetle has a lot of problems, like window, and is recurring, i.e. coming back after fixed for several months.
In US, dealers have to allow garage to buy those special tools to fix their customer cars. But that is NOT the case in Canada, hence even though your mechanic knows what is the problem, your mechanic still cannot fix your car. You have to go back to dealer! Hope your car doesn't need special engine oil...
