OTTAWA — Halfway through the experiment with segregated bike lanes on Laurier Avenue, the city is pleased with how the two-year trial is going. The lanes, physically separated from car traffic most of their length between Bronson Avenue and Elgin Street, opened July 10 last year. According to automatic counters under the pavement near Metcalfe Street, more than 365,000 bikes have rolled to and fro in that time. On busy days, the counters register more than 2,500 trips.
