CFB Petawawa brush fire under control; second, smaller fire still burning

OTTAWA — A 210-hectare brush fire at CFB Petawawa that threatened to move into Algonquin Park is under control, while a second, smaller fire on the base continues to burn. The first blaze began in the training ground at the Canadian Forces base on Thursday, and grew quickly thanks to bone-dry conditions at the site northwest of Pembroke. But on Monday, base public affairs officer Sally-Ann Cyr said the fire was under control.
