Council committee approves plan to look at help for veterans

OTTAWA — City staff will work on ways to better connect homeless veterans to assistance from the Royal Canadian Legion and federal government, if council’s community and protective services committee has its way. The committee approved on Thursday a report from Councillor Steve Desroches that calls for staff to develop a strategy with the Legion and Veterans Affairs Canada “to enhance information sharing, referrals and connection to social and employment services in the Ottawa area that are available and often underutilized by veterans.”
