Ottawa – Starting Friday, May 16, pedestrians and cyclists using the Gatineau-bound (east side) sidewalk on the MacDonald Cartier Bridge will be directed underneath the Sussex Drive overpass towards the Sussex Drive sidewalk and the King Edward Avenue intersection.
Signs and fences will be installed to safely direct pedestrians and cyclists along the detour route.
The Macdonald-Cartier Bridge Structural Rehabilitation is a Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) project. This project will widen the roadways and sidewalks, replace the exterior railings and install a new median, traffic barriers and lighting. The Bridge structure will also be seismically retrofitted to meet modern standards. This project is expected to be completed in spring 2016.
