Ottawa - Mayor Jim Watson and Councillor Keith Egli, Chair of Ottawa’s Transportation Committee, presented 15 individuals and organizations in Ottawa with Road Safety Awards for outstanding contributions to road safety in our community.
"These awards recognize exceptional individuals and organizations that are helping to make our roads safer for everyone," said Mayor Watson. "By recognizing these initiatives and achievements, we are also helping to raise awareness of the many aspects of road safety while reminding people to be aware and travel safely and responsibly."
"Congratulations to all the deserving award recipients and thank you for your many important contributions to road safety in Ottawa," said Chair Egli. "Many recipients are committed volunteers who are making our roads safer for all users, including our cyclists, pedestrians, motorcyclists, and motorists."

The Safer Roads Ottawa Program is a community partnership between Ottawa Fire Services, Ottawa Paramedic Service, Ottawa Police Service, Ottawa Public Health and the Public Works Department. The program is based on a shared commitment to preventing road fatalities and serious injuries to people in the City of Ottawa through culture change, community engagement and the development of a sustainable safe transportation environment.
