(Ottawa)—The Ottawa Police Service and Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) joint operation continues following two shooting incidents this morning. The safety perimeter in Downtown Ottawa has been reduced in size.
Ottawa Police are advising that the safety perimeter is now bordered as follows:
If you are in the downtown area but outside the perimeter, you can exit your building but please stay off the streets in the safety perimeter until further notice.
Traffic delays are expected as people are starting to leave the downtown core.
It is important that the downtown area remain as free as possible of traffic and pedestrians during this ongoing police operation. There is an enhanced and visible police presence in the downtown area.
Police are able to confirm that two other persons were injured following the shooting incidents today. Both injuries were non-life threatening.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting incidents, or those looking to report suspicious activity, can call 613-760-8177.
There is a phone number for family members who cannot reach their loved ones who are working in the downtown core today (inside the safety perimeter). The number is 613-760-8130.

- East of Rideau Canal, Mackenzie Avenue is also closed
