Ottawa Fire Services has deployed its highly trained “high angle rope rescue team to an embankment under the Alexandra Bridge at around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday after hearing reports that there may be a person trapped under the bridge.
Emergency officials arrived on the scene after calls that a cyclist had fallen over an embankment into the river after hearing cries for help under the bridge.
Ottawa Fire Water Rescue was deployed to ensure the person was not in the water. The rope rescue team was sent to examine under the bridge. Ottawa Police Services and Ottawa Paramedics were also on scene.
So far, nothing has been found. Ottawa Fire personnel are continuing to search the area.
