Smiths Falls police have charged a motorist with careless driving after a nine-year-old child was struck by a car on Brockville Street.
Police said Thursday that the child was accompanied by a crossing guard at the Ross Street intersection in the south end of town but that the driver did not stop.
The child was not seriously injured but was taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution, police said.
