Gov. Gen. David Johnston and his wife, Sharon, were the hosts of Winter Celebration at Rideau Hall on Saturday afternoon as part of The Year of Sport in Canada.
Visitors had the opportunity to experience numerous outdoor activities, including dog sledding, ski races, horse-drawn wagon rides and kicksledding, and also had the chance to tour the historic residence and an exhibit entitled A Reflection of Who We Are: The Canadian Honours System.
The Governor General declared 2015 The Year of Sport in October.
Winter Celebration was presented in partnership with the embassies of Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Slovenia, Sweden and Switzerland, as well as with the European Union Delegation in Canada and the National Capital Commission.
