The new O-Trains are up and running, and OC Transpo officials say they’ll be answering questions later Wednesday on what went wrong and how they fixed it.
The announcement of a return to service came about 12:35 p.m., two-and-a-half days after a mysterious glitch shut down the system.
An email from general manager John Manconi says that “we completed the work associated with the signal interruption issues and began testing the system by running trains from end to end.
“The system is performing well, accordingly full service of the O-Train Trillium Line is being resumed and we will be communicating to customers and the media.”
The embarrassing shutdown came just as OC Transpo was holding a press conference to show off its new trains and expanded service. Buses have been carrying passengers instead since Monday.
More to come.
