按理都该交。但要是换了火花塞，雨刷的橡皮条之类的，你自己看着办吧。
查到了, 在美国修车, 对不可预见的, 安全返回加拿大需要的新换零件是免税的.
车胎出问题可以免税换一对 (不是四个).
There is a provision in law that you don't have to pay taxes on a part that failed while you were out of the country and that you had to have replaced before coming back.

Border Crossing: Be An Honest Citizen Is the Best Way of Your Contribution to This Country
and Chinese Canadian community in specific, which is what has come to my mind after reading the following article entitled "Windsor police officer Dorothy Nesbeth dismissed" by CBC.

I have been discriminated at border crossing a few times because simply I am a Chinese Canadian. I was told in private conversation with a superintendent of a border crossing where I was referred for a check that lots of Chinese when crossing the border either don't claim, or underclaim or make outright deceptions on border officers. As a result, some customers officers (based on "their individual judgements", but not Canada's policy) often stop Chinese for a check (referral). I was also told since some "Indians" (the First Nation People of Canada) living in the border area often smuggle goods back and forth across the border so that they often get checks 3/4 of the times in some specific border crossing (according to the superintendent of the border office with whom I had a chat).
I don't agree with the current border officers' practice, and have lodged my protest each time I was stopped at the subject border office, right up to their superior office in Ottawa if I am not satisfied with the explanation I received from the subject border office. I don't want to get too much about my specific case, but urge my fellow Chinese Canadians to lodge your complaints whenever you are stopped without cause. This will increase the pressure on the border officers to think twice next time when they are making a decision on your border crossing.
In the meantime, I would also like to urge my fellow Chinese Canadians to be honest and considerate when you cross borders, and be a responsible person for the Chinese Canadian community in overall.
For the better future of our children, please be honest in making claims when across borders, and please also lodge a complaint without any hesitation whenever you think you are unfairly treated. After all, it's your right to be an honest citizen and to lodge a protest against any unfair treatment and have an reasonable and truthful reply to your complain!
