Via Rail service between Ottawa and Montreal, and between Montreal and Toronto, was suspended Saturday afternoon due to a CN freight train derailment near Bowmanville, near Toronto.
The passenger train company said on Twitter that it was experiencing difficulty lining up buses to take over some of the runs, ‘due to the Pan Am Games.’
Via said it expected service to resume Sunday.
CN said that seven cars of a westbound train derailed near Bowmanville at about 1:50 p.m. on Saturday.
There were no injuries and no dangerous goods were involved in the derailment, the company said.
