No one was injured after an oven explosion at a two-storey commercial building in east Gatineau on Friday afternoon.
Twenty-four firefighters and 12 trucks spent more than an hour fighting the blaze.
The fire occurred on boulevard de l’Aeroport, near Maloney Boulevard, at approximately 3 p.m. Almond paste was being made at Edde Paste Inc. when when a defective oven caught fire.
The approximately 10 people in the building were outside by the time Gatineau fire crews arrived on the scene, and the crew’s “aggressive” attack on the fire limited the damage.
The fire was under control by about 4:38 p.m.
