Sales of existing houses by Ottawa Real Estate Board members jumped 6.6 per cent in August from a year earlier, the board reported Thursday.
The board said 1,279 sales were made through its Multiple Listing Service during the month, compared to 1,200 in August 2014. The total also topped the five-year average for August sales of 1,234.
For the first eight months of 2015, sales are up 4.2 per cent over 2014.
The average price in that period has risen to $370,951 from $364,307, the board said.
