Ottawa police seized drugs and a handgun during a raid on a suspected Kanata drug house.
The Ottawa police drug unit teamed up with tactical officers to execute a search warrant on a home in the 600 block of Aberfoyle Circle in Kanata north on Friday. The raid followed a two-week investigation into drug trafficking out of the residence.
Police said they seized a .32 calibre revolver, along with marijuana, hashish, cocaine, codeine and the amphetamine MDA.
A woman, four men and two male youths were arrested as a result of the investigation.
Nicki Jenish, 46, Mohamoud Hassen, 21, Ralph Saint-Preux, 23, Kameron Zohr, 18, and Benjamin Hartholt, 18 and the two minors are all facing charges related to possession for the purpose of trafficking of MDA and marijuana, possession of a prohibited firearm, careless storage of a firearm and possession of a firearm obtained by crime.
Hassen was additionally charged alone with two counts of possession of a firearm while prohibited and a breach of probation, and Saint-Preux was facing five additional drug charges, possession of the proceeds of crime, and possession of ammunition while prohibited.
Jenish, Hartholt and one of the youths have been released on bail; the others remained in custody, police said Tuesday.
