A Gatineau man killed his girlfriend’s “pitbull-type” dog Thursday night after it attacked the couple and seriously bit them.
Police said officers were called to a house on Rue Champlain around 10:25 p.m. after a resident reported that her boyfriend was trying to fend off her pet dog.
Police arrived to find the two in the home suffering from bites on their arms.
The dog was found dead. According to police, the man grabbed what’s believed to be a kitchen knife to stab the animal to death in the unexplained attack.
The residents were taken to hospital for treatment. Animal services took possession of the dog’s body.
A police investigation continues.
