The Ottawa Mission served its biggest meal of the year on Monday, preparing about 2,800 Thanksgiving dinners.
Lineups were out the door as 120 volunteers hustled to get food on the table.
“My favourite piece of today is the gratitude of our guests who come in,” said Peter Tilley, executive director of the Ottawa Mission. “When I go to the tables, how they genuinely say thank you for doing this.
“They have no idea that for the staff and volunteers it’s making our day to help serve them.”
