Ottawa firefighters were called to a fire at a 12-storey apartment building on Paul Anka Drive near Uplands Drive at about 8:30 a.m.
At the scene, responders were greeted by heavy black smoke pouring from an eighth-floor unit.
There were no injuries reported, but extra vehicles were called to contain the blaze.
