Seven people are displaced after a fire broke out in a residential building in Kanata earlier Tuesday morning.
Multiple Ottawa fire crews were working to put out the fire that reportedly began in a bedroom of an eight-unit structure at 304 Stratas Court. The flames then extended to the attic and roof of the building, Ottawa fire said.
Ottawa fire spokesman Bob Rainboth confirmed there were no injuries, but said seven people were displaced.
Fire crews responded to the fire after receiving a 911 call shortly after 8 a.m. Ottawa police and paramedics were also notified of the incident.
Crews do not yet know the source of the fire but were able to determine it originated in a bedroom on the third floor.
Rainboth said the damages from the incident are “significant” but was unable to provide an immediate estimate.
