Gatineau police arrested two teenagers on Thursday at a skate park near Ecole secondaire de I’lle on rue Saint-Rédempteur after finding a small quantity of marijuana in their possession.
According to police, residents of the area have been complaining about increased use of drug use at that location at specific times of the day since the beginning of the school year. Police said, the residents are worried about the impact of drugs on young people.
Police began monitoring the property for drug use and, on Thursday they caught a boy and girl, both 15 and Gatineau residents.
The teens, who were not identified, were released, but will face drug possession charges.
Police asked anyone wishing to provide information on drug trafficking, particularly around schools, to contact them at 819-243-4636.
