A 22-year-old man has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving after a fatal crash on Meadowlands Drive Sunday afternoon.
Ottawa police charged Mohamed Hassan Haj-Saleh on Monday with dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
The collision, which occurred at about 2 p.m. on Meadowlands near the intersection of Viewmount Drive, killed a 55-year old man. A 13-year-old girl who was a passenger suffered serious injuries to her head, abdomen, pelvis and lower leg. She was taken to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario for treatment.
Police arrested Haj-Saleh at the scene. He has no prior criminal record.
Police said the tow truck was heading east on Meadowlands when it collided with a silver Honda Acura sedan that had been northbound on Viewmount Drive.
The collision closed the intersection for nearly six hours.
