Environment Canada is recommending people use caution walking or driving in the capital region Saturday night and into Sunday.
In a special weather statement, the agency said the area centred in the capital, extending south to Cornwall and north to the Pembroke-Petawawa area can expect to see snow mixed with ice pellets through most of evening.
Accumulation is expected to range from five to 10 cm by Sunday morning.
Meanwhile, the agency also advises that the area including Ottawa South, Richmond and Metcalfe, can expect freezing rain Saturday night into Sunday.
“Furthermore, there is potential for ice amounts of 10 to 15 mm in a band from the higher ground south of Georgian Bay through Orillia to the northern Kawarthas, and eastward through Lanark County to the Kemptville area. This may cause some power outages,” the agency notes.
