Two men face 42 charges after almost a dozen “smash-and-grab” break-ins across the city in the past month, police said.
The break-ins began in early December when two men smashed the glass door on an entrance to a business.
Once inside the store, the men grabbed the cash drawer and loose cash.
On Jan. 8, patrol officers were responding to several smash-and-grab break-ins when they stopped two men fleeing on Canotek Road. Officers found evidence of the break-ins and arrested two suspects.
Joseph McIntyre, 72, and Alexander Turnbull, 51, face 42 charges in 11 break-ins, including break and enter, possession of break-in instruments, possession of property and mischief.
Anyone with information can call the Ottawa police break and enter unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 2655.
