Ottawa police are seeking help to identify two male suspects believed to be linked to an aggravated assault last October in the ByWard Market that left a woman unconscious.

Police say the men went to a restaurant-bar in the 100 block of Clarence Street on the night of Saturday, Oct. 17, and started a conversation with a woman. At 2:30 a.m. the next morning, the woman left the establishment with another woman and walked to a nearby parking lot at 141 Clarence St. The women were followed by both male suspects.

While the women were paying for parking, both suspects “viciously grabbed one of the women from behind and threw her through a glass window, shattering it,” police said.

Once she was on the ground, the men repeatedly kicked her in the chest and head, rendering her unconscious, police said. The second woman did not sustain any serious injuries during the assault.

The men are described as of Asian descent and between 25 and 35 years old. In an earlier short conversation with the women they said they were lawyers from the Toronto area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 613-236-1222 ext. 5166. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stopper at 1-800-222-8477.
