If money/timing is not a constraint I would suggest you go to university, unless you are satisfied with a bookkeeping job. It really depends on luck & networking for anyone who look for jobs. The massive networking events offered by university will help you to connect with higher reputation accounting firms and corporations (that will definitely be helpful if you seek for a professional license).

I would have skipped college if money wasn’t a problem to me.
Back to your question, I would choose “on campus” which will provide you more social networking experience.
