Ryan Hreljac, founder of the Ryan’s Well Foundation, is being honoured by World of Children Award for a second time.
Hreljac, who was the winner of the World of Children Youth Award in 2003, will receive the organization’s 2016 alumni award.
“It’s an honour and a privilege to be recognized by World of Children Award again,” Hreljac said in a release. “Their organization has done remarkable work profiling a multitude of amazing social initiatives as well play an active role in changing the world.”
The Kemptville native began the foundation at the age of six, and in the 15 years since then 1,000 drilled wells have been constructed. Work began on the milestone 1,000th well in northern Uganda in the fall of 2015. A story on the foundation’s website says it has brought clean water and sanitation to more than 842,000 people.
World of Children Award improves the lives of vulnerable children by funding and elevating the most effective changemakers for children worldwide. Hreljac will be honoured on Tuesday, April 12 at the annual 2016 Alumni Honours event that will take place at the Montage Beverly Hills.
