The Ontario Provincial Police have charged a man from Lanark County with a number of charges, including attempted murder, aggravated assault and arson, after an incident on Friday that sent at least one person to hospital.
According to police, reports of a serious domestic conflict in Beckwith Township, near Carleton Place, were received involving 59-year-old man. Police will not release details about the incident, an address where it occurred or what time the incident occurred.
The assault required a victim to be transported to hospital with minor injuries. The victim was quickly released from the medical facility.
The unidentified 59-year-old is facing charges including aggravated assault, attempted murder, arson, uttering threats and cruelty to animals.
A bail hearing was held for the man on Tuesday in the Ontario Court of Justice in Smiths Falls.
