Carol Anne Meehan’s new radio show will launch on 1310 NEWS on May 30, it was announced Tuesday.

The popular TV personality, for decades a staple of local viewers until she was abruptly let go by CTV last fall, will host The Carol Anne Meehan Show on weekdays from 1 to 3 p.m.

The news and local affairs show, Meehan said, will examine issues of the day. “But I’m also hoping to being my own style or brand to it so it’s not just serious stuff. There’s so much more that’s going on in the city than just politics.”

Meehan’s agreement with Rogers, which owns 1310, will allow her to continue producing her blog, Local Stories – Local People (www.carolannemeehan.com), which she launched at the end of March.

Although best known for her work on television — she and Max Keeping co-anchored CTV’s local news from 1989 until his retirement from on-air broadcasting in 2010 — the 59-year-old Meehan worked for CBC radio in Calgary in the 1980s.
