Organizers for the Ottawa Race Weekend have announced two changes in starting times for races in the face of unexpectedly hot and humid weather.
Saturday’s 10-kilometre run has been pushed back 30 minutes to 7 p.m., from the original 6:30 p.m. starting time.
And Sunday’s Scotiabank Half-Marathon moves 45 minutes earlier to 8:15 a.m.
Saturday morning Environment Canada raised the forecast temperatures for the weekend, especially for Sunday.
The new forecast calls for a high of 31 C each day, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms each day.
On Friday the forecast had called for highs of 30 C Saturday and 27 C on Sunday.
Organizers have scheduled a news conference for noon.
