Businesses and traffic in downtown Gatineau were hard hit by a power outage Thursday after workers accidentally cut two power lines in Old Hull at about 8:30 a.m.
A number of businesses and some government offices were shut by the blackout.
As well, police were directing traffic at a number of major intersections.
Shortly after noon, Hydro-Québec reported that about 2,100 of the original customers affected were back on the grid.
There was no immediate estimate of when power would be restored for the 600 or so remaining clients.
There were no injuries attributed to the outage.
