A North Glengarry Township man faces charges including animal cruelty after police say a visually-impaired woman’s service dog was hit and pelted with rocks.
Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP responded to a disturbance on St. James Street in North Glengarry just before noon Friday.
They report that during an altercation between a man and a woman, the dog was struck and rocks were thrown at the service animal. The animal did not suffer lasting injuries, police say.
Ricky Sabourin, 46, is charged with assault with a weapon, cruelty to animals for causing unnecessary pain and suffering and mischief.
He was released to appear in court in Alexandria Oct. 12.
