Police issue hundreds of traffic tickets in school safety blitz

Ottawa police say they issued almost 300 tickets in a back-to-school traffic safety blitz this week.

The campaign from Sept. 6-9 focussed on traffic safety in and around school zones.

In particular, officers were on watch for: speeding in school zones; failing to stop, failing to yield to pedestrians at school crossings; failing to obey crossing guards; failing to obey school bus signs, and; distracted driving.
