Ontario Provincial Police have charged a man and a woman after a large marijuana grow operation was discovered Tuesday at a home on Major Lake Road in South Algonquin Township.

After a lengthy investigation, the OPP executed a search warrant at the residence, which is located near the south end of Algonquin Park, and found 1,000 marijuana plants and six grams of harvested marijuana.

Susan Robinson-Yu, 56, of Stittsville and Robert Pirillo, 53, of King City, near Toronto were charged with possession of a schedule ll substance with the purpose of trafficking, as well as possessing an illegal substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke and were released on their own recognizance pending future court dates.
