About 40 residents of a Gatineau seniors’ home have been temporarily displaced following a smoky fire early Saturday.
Firefighters were called just after 3 a.m. to the 10-storey Chartwell residence at 40 Cité-Jardin St.
Early responders confirmed the working fire and the building’s 100 residents were helped out of the building.
Fire investigators said the building’s water sprinklers helped bring the fire under control by about 3:30 a.m.
There were no injuries. Damages were estimated at $250,000.
