Hudson’s Bay, which has three locations in Ottawa, on Thursday announced it would cut 2,000 jobs in North America.
The luxury department store chain has stores in the ByWard Market, the Bayshore Shopping Centre and the St. Laurent Centre.
The job losses are part of the company’s transformative plan for regional operations. It has formed two leadership teams to focus on the Hudson’s Bay in Canada and its subsidiary, Lord & Taylor in the United States.
Once the plan is implemented by the end of the 2018 fiscal year, Hudson’s Bay said it expects to save more than $350 million U.S. per year.
