The body of a diabetic man who was last seen in Old Hull early Saturday morning was pulled from the Ottawa River Wednesday.

Police said only that missing Dave Lanteigne, 28, had been found and no foul play was suspected. An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday but no further information would be released out of respect for the family, said police.

First responders were called to the Ottawa River at Jacques Cartier Park late Wednesday afternoon.

Fearing for his safety, missing persons investigators had appealed for help to find Lanteigne, who was last seen at a pizza parlour at 3:30 a.m. July 8. Worried supporters organized a search effort for the man, a diabetic who vanished without his medication.

Friends and family paid tribute to the young man from Caraquet, New Brunswick on social media.

“A small piece of each of us just flew today,” wrote one friend in French. “But good memories and your good humour will remain forever engraved in my memory.”

Dave Lanteigne : une autopsie sera pratiquée demain. Par respect pour la famille, aucune information supplémentaire ne sera transmise. https://t.co/VwHUVKnTbX
