The Ontario Provincial Police have charged an Ottawa man with assaulting a police officer and a citizen.
Bruce Mundy, 44, of Ottawa has been charged with mischief over $5,000, assault, assault of a police officer, resisting arrest and failure to comply with his probation.
At 8:50 p.m. on Wednesday night, officers were called to the 1000 Islands Parkway in Leeds and the Thousand Islands Township to investigate a man in the middle of the road.
The OPP said a concerned citizen stopped to assist Mundy, who then “became assaultive towards the citizen.”
Mundy then jumped on the man’s car and caused “considerable damage” to the hood and sun roof of the car. He then tried to get inside while the man tried to drive away.
An officer was also kicked in the chin while placing Mundy under arrest, police said.
Mundy had a bail hearing on Thursday at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville.
