Ottawa firefighters put out a two-alarm fire at a two-and-a-half-storey home at 179 Armstrong St. on Wednesday night.

At 9:16 p.m., firefighters received multiple 911 calls about visible flames from a house close to McCormick Street in Ottawa’s west end.

No one was inside the house at the time the fire broke out.

Shortly after arriving on scene, firefighters requested extra assistance and equipment.

Ottawa Fire Services said, in a news release at 10:19, that the flames had been brought under control at 10:10 p.m. and that firefighters were “checking for fire extension and continuing overhaul operations.”

The cause of the fire and a damage estimate had not been determined.

An investigator was on scene.
