Ottawa police have charged a 23-year-old man with firearm offences after they found a handgun, illicit drugs and cash near the spot where he was allegedly seen smoking marijuana.
According to police, a man was seen allegedly using marijuana inside a car near 3100 Carling Ave. on Saturday at 12:15 p.m. He was arrested at the scene.
When the officers searched the immediate area around the spot where the arrest occurred, they found a handgun and also seized drugs and cash.
Police have charged Zakaria Sheek-Hussein with possession of a weapon without holding a valid licence, carrying a concealed weapon, occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm, possession of a schedule I substance with the intent of trafficking, unlawfully possessing a schedule II substance, as well as several other charges.
