Congrats Ottawa, you avoided being the tail-end of a bad Bruce Springsteen/Manfred Mann song-lyric joke.

According to an Ottawa paramedics spokesman, there have been no reported cases of injuries related to viewing Monday’s partial eclipse without protection.

“It was like trying to look at the sun on any normal day — it’s difficult to look at,” said Marc-Antoine Deschamps.

Deschamps also said the message of not staring directly into the sun may have played a role in preventing injuries.

On Monday evening, various spokespeople for the Queensway-Carleton Hospital, The Ottawa Hospital and CHEO confirmed they did not have any recorded emergency visits for eclipse-related eye injuries.
