Fire crews were securing the area as workers from Enbridge, which notified the fire department of the leak shortly after 1 p.m., checked gas levels in surrounding homes. Some were evacuated and residents of other houses were told to close their doors and windows.

The fire department asked nearby residents to wait for further instructions.
