The OC Transpo Safe Driving Awards were presented today by Mayor Jim Watson, Transit Commission Chair, Councillor Stephen Blais, City Manager, Steve Kanellakos and General Manager of Transportation Services, John Manconi. Thirty-nine OC Transpo bus operators were honoured for their distinguished safe-driving records and their commitment to providing safe and reliable service to customers.
The awards are presented annually to recognize bus operators who have reached career milestones in safe driving of 20, 25, 30 and 35 or more years. To qualify for a Safe Driving Award, bus operators must drive a bus in service for at least 1,000 hours every year without a collision.
Of the employees recognized, 12 were honoured for reaching 35 years or more of safe driving. One recipient was honoured with reaching a significant milestone of 45 years of safe driving.
