The Ottawa police are seeking the public’s help to identify a man who is believed to be involved in the robbery of at least six different banks.

Police said the man is believed to have robbed various Ottawa banks between Nov. 6 and Nov. 17. The locations of the banks have been spread throughout a wide area that includes Carling Avenue, Montreal Road, Alta Vista Drive and Innes Road.

In each instance, the man has entered the bank alone and verbally demanded the teller to produce cash. He has been careful to conceal his identity. In at least one of the robberies the man produced a knife.

He has obtained an undisclosed amount of cash from the robberies. Police believe he has fled from the scene of the robberies by car.

The man is described as a Caucasian male, approximately 5’8″ to 5’10” (173 cm to 178 cm) in height. It is believed he is in his mid-twenties and has a fair complexion. He was last seen with light coloured facial hair, possibly red in colour.

The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating a series of recent bank robberies and is seeking the public’s assistance to identify the suspect.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to call the Ottawa police at 613-236-1222, ext. 5116. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
