The quiet confines of beautiful MRC des Collines, north of Gatineau, looked like a TV reality show Friday night.

Police and other first responders handled a dozen crashes and cars in the ditch calls between 3 p.m. and about midnight.

The only good news was that none of the crashes resulted in major injury.

Firefighters and paramedics with specialized equipment were required to extricate victims in three of the crashes.

In two of the other collisions, drivers were found to be impaired.

“In both cases, the drivers blew a little more than one-and-a-half times the limit allowed by law,” MRC police said in a release.

One of the drivers was forbidden from driving with any alcohol in his blood and was fined an additional $300, for a total of $482.

Both drivers’ licenses were suspended for 90 days and their vehicles impounded. They are to appear in court at a later date.

A little later, a routine check found another ‘Zero alcohol’ driver. The young man was fined $482, his license suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded.
