Jacques-Cartier Park in Gatineau will be the setting of a garden of illuminated snow sculptures from late January to March, an exhibit called Mosaïvernales.

It is put on by Mosaïcultures, the organization that created the sculptures of plants in the same park this summer.

Nearly 20 master-sculptors from China will create the exhibit. The central sculpture is called Terre Mère (Mother Earth), a tribute to one of the most popular exhibits in Mosaïculture’s hugely successful MosaïCanada exhibit..

The new exhibit will run from from Jan. 26 to Mar. 4, which means it will coincide with Winterlude. The park is already home of Winterlude’s Snowflake Kingdom with giant slides.

There will be an admission charge of $10. Admission is free for children 12 and under.

The organizers describe their work as “an imaginary world where snow and light will give life to gods and goddesses who are firmly rooted in nature and bring together all peoples.”

The city of Gatineau and the National Capital Commission are partners in the event.
