Heads up for motorists planning any trips south of the capital for the next few days.

The Environment Canada site is full of “special weather statements,” not quite official warnings but close, stretching from Hamilton to past Montreal.

The statements say the lakeside regions, as well as the corridor up the St. Lawrence River, might receive freezing rain Saturday.

Friday’s forecasts call for up to 10 cm of snow, followed by further snow and ice pellet amounts of two to four cm are possible on Saturday.

The precipitation will be doubly troublesome for motorists due to high winds.

Motorists from Kingston region are already experiencing occasional whiteouts along Highway 401.
